Beaches of Normandy

We biked through Normandy and visited the invasion beaches. You realize the risks that were taken not only by the thousands that died on the shores but by Eisenhower for picking such a dificult region.

Normandy is beautiful farm country that sometimes goes right up to the sea. There is flax, corn, sunflowers, peas, mustard, winter wheat and hay ground all through out the region with lots of dairy cattle. I have never seen a region quite like it.

We were at Omaha beach and took this photo. I thought it was interesting as I don't think of tractors and the sea but here the farmers and the sea are somehow intertwined in a fascinating way.
